Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue
Zygo helps the Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue Team keep in contact. Alister Renton let us know how Zygo continues working even when other forms of mobile communication fail.
Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue team consists of some 35 members and operates from a purpose-built base in the town of Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria. Its members are all unpaid volunteers, who are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist people in need. We use a pager system to alert team members when they are needed. Due to the terrain the pager system has hit-and-miss coverage. Zygo has allowed us to pass callout requests via team members' mobile phones. This gets the urgent information to team members quickly and reliably using just one number.
