Southwestern
Southwestern is one of America's most successful private companies, built by, led by, and owned primarily by graduates of its summer internship program. Andy Pallent, UK & Southern Hemisphere Support Manager, tells us how Zygo saves costs and gets his teams motivated.
We run a sales and trainee management programme for university students
during their summer holidays. We recruit students from all over the
world, including Europe, South Africa and the US to sell in either the UK or
the US. Our UK office is based in Edinburgh, and our head office in
Nashville, Tennesse. Students run their own businesses selling children's
educational products door-to-door. This teaches them the principles of
business, as well as sales techniques, leadership abilities, success and how to deal with rejection. We are also DSA and OFT affiliated.
We signed up to Zygo shortly before our summer began, and it enables us
to keep in touch with students who are out in the field but who do not
have access to PCs / laptops or other forms of communication. Zygo is the only way we send messages from
the office. It enables us to share good news, special sales
incentives, prizes that can be won, news from other students in the US
and so on.
Zygo enables us to send messages quickly and easily to our students,
without having to send personalised SMS messages to each person. It
also saves on flyers that are sent in the mail, so it's cost-effective
and helps us do our bit for the environment! In addition, as we have
foreign students coming to work in the UK, we can
send a Zygo SMS just as easily to them as to a UK number, and it also
keeps people that have signed up in the US in touch with what's
happening.
I am very impressed with the service. The support is very good,
the website is bright and easy to navigate.
